From Ann Marie Pastor, Luther Conant Elementary Reading Specialist:
The summer holiday, with its often long, unstructured days, provides a unique opportunity for individual and family reading time. Please help your child(ren) to fully embrace the refuge and joys that come from summer reading. It is the single most important thing that you can do with your children this summer to support their academic progress. We encourage you to use our local public libraries to find and put print texts in your students’ hands. However, your students can also enjoy a range of audio texts from our public libraries as well.
Conant Summer Reading Program
Each summer, as part of the Conant Summer Reading Program, we ask children to read during the summer holiday. Please encourage your children to read for the fun and enrichment that reading provides!
Students who participate in the Conant Summer Reading Program and who complete the Bingo page will receive both a Certificate of Achievement and a Conant 2022 key chain. The key chain style is different each year, so that the children can develop a Conant key chain collection! The Bingo page/log sheets, and additional details were sent home during the final days of school. If you didn’t receive the hard copy of the Bingo Tracking Sheets, please click on the links below to find printable PDF copies.
When school begins in the fall, please have the children return the Bingo/Log sheets to their new teacher no later than Friday, September 9, 2022. We hope that you have a wonderful and safe summer and lots of time for free-choice summer reading!
Happy Summer Reading!
Ann Marie Pastor, Conant Reading Specialist
